JOB DESCRIPTION: The Master Control Operator is responsible for the accurate airing of elements presented by the broadcast schedule, the log. Information regarding satellite feeds and transmitter readings must be interpreted and acted upon. Reports to the Master Control Supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to:
Switching live, on-air programsMonitor and insure quality of all programs transmitted by the station.Programming the automation computerOperating the transmitter within legal limits set by the FCCMaintaining traffic log and noting factual account of discrepanciesMaintaining air quality of programs/spots by adjusting machine levelsPerforming quality control analyses prior to airing tapesRecording satellite programming for delayed transmissionGathering missing information or tapes when neededDownloading programs from internet.Programming Character Generator
REQUIREMENTS:Two years computerized Master Control Operator experience in a television station is required. Harris/Louth system experience preferred. Must have aptitude and some training in technical broadcast operations, and be able to act effectively under deadline pressure. Must be able to see and hear well enough to monitor and correct on-air audio and video levels.
WORK SCHEDULE:This shift is two nights per week (16 hours). Regular hours are Midnight to 8:00 am on Saturday and Sunday.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The News Anchor is responsible for hosting a daily 40-minute primetime Korean-language televised newscast. The Anchor may also schedule and conduct in-studio guest interviews when needed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Serves as on-air presenter/anchor of nightly television news program in Korean.2. Researches topics and interviewees. Prepares a list of questions and points of discussion for guest interviews. 3. Performs guest interviews in studio as needed.4. Adheres to production schedule by being prepared (scripts reviewed and make-up application completed) on set by deadline. 5. Performs miscellaneous duties as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:1. Excellent Korean language skills (written & spoken) are required. English language proficiency is a plus.2. Ability to accurately type in Korean. 3. Ability to present a professional on-air appearance, including good articulation and correct pronunciation.4. Knowledge of local Korean community and issues helpful.5. Ability to represent the station and attend various community events when needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:B.A. Degree or higher in related field is preferred. Some experience writing/reporting/anchoring broadcast news in Korean is a plus.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Programming Intern will assist the Programming Department at LA 18 KSCI-TV with programming our Mandarin-language digital channel (18.8). This includes contracting, tracking, viewing, summarizing, scheduling, archiving, labeling, and dubbing Mandarin-language programs for broadcast. The Programming Department is the center of information for the television station, so the intern will have the opportunity to interact with all departments.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn the core aspects of television programming in the largest Asian television station in the U.S.
This internship provides a hands-on learning experience for the student who is interested in broadcasting, television programming, the Mandarin language and Chinese culture, and translation.
Must be proficient in Mandarin Chinese and English, detail-oriented, and have good computer skills, especially strong experience with Excel.
General Internship Requirements:To qualify as an intern, a student must be:Ø A registered student at an accredited college or university.Ø Eligible to earn academic credit for the internship and able to provide credit documentation from school.Ø Enrolled in a related course of study.Ø Preferably a third or fourth year student.
General Internship Information:Internships may not exceed one academic quarter or semester. A minimum of 15 hours per week is required. Office hours are 9 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday.
