SAP, Secondary Audio Program, allows the television station to broadcast audio other than the main audio for a program. An example would be airing a Mandarin drama (main audio) that is also available in Korean.
Most television sets that are “stereo-equipped” and sold after 1990 have SAP.
You can find out if you have SAP a couple of ways:
1. You can check your television remote control to see if there is a button that says, “MTS”, “SAP”, or “Audio Select”. If there is no button with any of those labels, try the “Menu” button. Search under SAP, audio, or stereo from the menu screen.2. Check your owner’s manual of your television set. If you don’t have an owner’s manual, you can usually access the manual through the internet. Just find the website for the brand name of your television; for example, Sony, Panasonic, Zenith, etc. Once you are on the website, there is usually a section for Customer Support.
